先月、テレビのクイズ番組を見ていたら、「身も蓋もない」の意味は（１）どうしようもない（２）はっきりとしすぎた（３）大まかな－のうち、どれかという出題があった。某有名中学の入試に出た問題らしいが、私は迷いに迷った揚げ句、（１）と答えた。正解は（２）だった。 悔しくて手当たり次第に辞書を引いた。広辞苑には「露骨すぎて、情味も含蓄もない」とあり、大辞林や大辞泉もほぼ同様の意味を載せている。「露骨すぎる」から判断すれば、ややニュアンスは異なるものの「はっきりとしすぎた」の（２）が最も正解に近いということにはなるだろう（「露骨」は小学生に難しすぎるとして「はっきりとしすぎた」に言い換えられたものかもしれない）。 身（容器の本体）も蓋もないと、隠す部分がなく、全てをさらけ出すので「露骨すぎる」ことになり、そこから「情味も含蓄もない」につながったと思われる。そこで考えたいのは、この慣用句が実際に使われるにあたって要となるべき意味は「露骨すぎる」なのか、それとも「情味も含蓄もない」なのか－という点である。 後者とするのが私の語感だ。「身も蓋もない話」といえば大抵の人は、「露骨すぎる話」というより「情味も含蓄もない話」「そう言ってしまえばにべもない話」「味も素っ気もない話」として受け止めるのではなかろうか。私が（１）と答えたのも、そんなニュアンスを含む「どうしようもない」がむしろ正解に近いと考えたからだ。< 前のページ12次のページ >

1月11日より、テレビ東京系ドラマ24で松田龍平＆瑛太主演で実写ドラマがスタートする『まほろ駅前番外地』。原作の世界観はそのままに、ドラマオリジナルのストーリーを盛り込んだ作品になっている。これを記念して、『ダ・ヴィンチ』2月号では、原作者の三浦しをんと監督＆脚本を手がけた大根仁との豪華対談が実現した。

三浦 今回、映像を観ていてすごく楽しかったのは、小説には書いていない、二人の毎日の暮らしぶり。こういうアホなことやって暮らしてるんだろうなあ、みたいな感じがよかったです。
大根 原作にある二人の関係性とかキャラクターのルールをある程度守っていれば、ちょっと遊んでも大丈夫かなと思って。三浦さんの作るキャラクターには、そういう「余白」がちゃんとある。
三浦 うれしいです。読んだ方が「この人たち、ほかの時はどうしてるのかな」とか「きっとこんな習慣があるに違いない」とか、自分が読んだり見たりする時でもいろいろ想像できる登場人物のほうが好きなんです。小説に書いたのは多田と行天の人生のほんの一部。人生って、特別な一日ばっかりではなくて、それ以外のどんどん忘れていっちゃうような、でも楽しかったり、ひどかったりする毎日がある。それを記憶として定着したら、こういう軽やかな日常になるのかなって思いました。
大根 うん、原作を読んで、こいつらは普段ぼんやりとした日とか、なんでもない日を過ごしているんだろうなと思ったので、そういうところを撮りたかった。特に男二人が一緒に暮らしている独特のムードは大事にしたいなと思いました。俺も男二人で暮らしたことがあるんですけど、そのなんともいえない感じは意識しましたね。
三浦 兄弟ともまた違うんですか。
大根 違いますね。まあ一緒に住むくらいだから気が合うし、好きなんですけど、だんだん絶妙な関係になっていくんですよねえ。言葉も少なくなっていくし。便利軒の事務所の空間は、その関係性を表現するためにもこだわって撮りたかった。俺の中では、なんらかの理由でちょっと広い部屋を安く借りられているっていう設定で。明確に決めたわけではないんだけど、俺はここ、お前はここ、みたいな定位置がなんとなく決まっている。それが二人の距離感なんです。
三浦 絶妙でした。広い空間にいるなら、端と端にいてもいいのに、そうはならないんですよね。でっかい部屋の中で、適度な距離を保ちつつ居心地のいい空間を作っている。エンディングの映像に、二人の関係がよく出ていましたよね。便利軒のソファに座って、携帯で写真を撮り合ったり、ゾンビのまねしながら食いついたり。男子のアホ感がすごくよかった！
大根 撮っていてすごく楽しかったです。
三浦 なんか……けっこう、二人がキャッキャしてるじゃないですか（笑）。ふだんは空間も時間ももてあますぜ、みたいな感じでぼーっとしてるだけなんだけど、ちょっとしたきっかけでじゃれあいになる。ああいうものなんですか？
大根 ああいうものですよ（笑）。原作を読んだ時に、二人の「精神的なホモ性」っていうのはうっすら感じていました。俺も結構あるほうなので（笑）。ふたりのツーショットを撮るのが楽しくてしょうがなかった。かわいい！とか、キュンキュンしながら撮ってました。
三浦 いやあ、私の小説は「BL（ボーイズラブ）っぽい」とよく言われますけど……男性の天然っぷりには負けますよ（笑）！

額賀氏は、日韓関係の重要性を記した安倍首相の親書を手渡し「日韓新政権のスタートを機に、両国が良い関係を築くための良い船出をしたい」との首相のメッセージを伝えた。朴氏は「早い時期に特使を派遣していただいたことに感謝する」と応じた。
額賀氏が「さまざまな問題があるが、大局的見地に立って関係改善に努力していくことが大事だ」と述べると、朴氏は「多くの面で日韓協力が必要だ」としながらも「日本との間では、歴史を直視しつつ融和と協力関係を作っていきたい」と応じた。
朴氏は当選直後にも「正しい歴史認識を基に、東北アジアの和解・協力と平和が拡大されるよう努力していく」と述べている。一連の発言は、自衛隊を「国防軍」にすることや憲法改正を選挙公約にした安倍首相への警戒感が強いことを受けたものだ。
また、額賀氏は「首相が早くお会いできることを楽しみにしている」と述べ、早い時期での訪日を要請。朴氏は「大変うれしい。日程を調整したい」と答えた。一方、安倍首相が出席の可能性を模索する大統領就任式（２月２５日）について、朴氏は「まだ、そこまで話ができていない」と述べるにとどめた。

ＣＮＮテレビは２日、クリントン長官が病院から移動する映像を報じており、サングラス姿で右手を手すりに置きながら、自ら歩いて車に乗り込んだ。夫のクリントン元大統領や娘のチェルシーさんが付き添い、元大統領はカメラを前に笑顔を見せていた。
ロイター通信によると、長官の姿が報じられるのは１２月７日以来。
国務省のヌランド報道官も記者会見で、クリントン長官は電話を使って「かなり活発」に関係者と連絡を取り合っており、２日も国務省職員が会話をしたと語った。
入院前日の２９日にも電話で約３０分間、ブラヒミ国連・アラブ連盟合同特別代表とシリア情勢などを協議したという。
